Definition:
A wound or injury of the lumbosacral plexus. A pathological change in the tissues. One of the individual points or patches of a multifocal disease.
Symptoms- Deficit in the sensation and/or movement in the lower limb
- Pain which has got the typical characteristics of burning/cramping or sometimes tingling in the lower extremities
- Loss of ROM in the of hip, knee, ankle, foot and toes
- Weakness of the gluteal muscles
Causes- Direct or indirect pelvic trauma
- Prolonged pressure on the nerve
- Obstetric complications
- Compression or entrapment of the nerve by nearby parts of the body or disease-related structures (such as a tumor)
- Diabetes
Treatment- ROM and stretching exercises
- Lower extremity strengthening exercises
- Core stabilization exercises
