S/P Subscapular Decompression

Definition:
Arthroscopic Subacromial Decompression is a relatively non-invasive procedure for the treatment of Subacromial Impingement Syndrome. Arthroscopic subacromial decompression is most commonly performed on an out-patient basis.

Symptoms
  • Pain in the front of the shoulder
  • Pain worse with arm movement including lifting the arm over the shoulders and during inward rotation of the arm against weight or pressure
  • Point tender to subscapularis tendon
Causes
  • Repetitive overhead movements of the arm
  • Muscle imbalance of the shoulder
Treatment
  • Passive and active ROM to shoulder
  • Posture program
  • Shoulder stabilization exercises
  • Upper extremity strengthening
