Axillary Nerve Injury
Symptoms- Paralysis of the deltoid muscle
- Decreased shoulder abduction ROM
- Dull, achy pain in shoulder that increases with increased ROM
- Weakness in shoulder
- Loss of sensation over the lateral upper arm
Causes- Humerus fracture
- Dislocation of the shoulder
- Direct trauma to shoulder
- Long term pressure on the nerve
Treatment- Stretching and ROM exercises
- Posture program
- Strengthening shoulder stabilizers
