Definition:
Degenerative changes in the spine along the discs and facet joints causing dysfunction of the spinal chord or nerves that travel through the foramen. This dysfunction can lead to pain, sensation abnormalities and muscle loss. The region affected depends on the region of compression and how severe the cord/nerves are being compressed.
