Definition:
In the case of an older PCL tear that occurred long prior to evaluation, the patient may complain of instability, or a sensation of the knee giving away. They may also complain of pain which can be in the front of the knee as well.
Symptoms- Knee instability
- Sensation of knee giving way
- Pain in the knee
- Stiffness in the knee
Causes- Bent knee hitting a dashboard in a car accident
- An object falling on a knee that is bent
- Misstep
- Direct blow to the knee
- Twisting or hyperextension injury
Treatment- Possible surgical intervention
- Progressing to knee ROM and strengthening exercises
- Core stabilization exercises
