Definition:
An injury to a ligament of the MTP when the joint is carried through a range of motion greater than normal, but without dilocation or fracture; or an injury resulting from tensile force to muscle or tendon of the MTP.
Symptoms- Pain in the great toe
- Swelling in the great toe
- Loss of ROM in the great toe
- Pain with walking
Causes- Forced hypertension of great toe
Treatment- Period of immobilization
- Progress to ROM and stretching
- Foot intrinsic muscle strengthening
