Definition:
A non-neoplastic soft tissue tumor that may occur in any joint, but most often occurs on or around joints and tendons in the hands or feet. Also known as a Bible cyst or Bible bump.
Symptoms- Swelling that often appears on or around joints and tendons in the hand or foot
- Visible and palpable bump
- Pain in the hand or foot
- Loss of ROM in the hand or foot
Causes- Out-pouching or distention of a weakened portion of a joint capsule or tendon sheath
Treatment- Period of immobilization
- Progress to ROM and stretching exercises
- Hand intrinsic muscle strengthening
- Upper extremity strengthening
