Definition:
An injury to a ligament of the AC/clavicle when the joint is carried through a range of motion greater than normal, but without dislocation or fracture; or an injury resulting from tensile force to muscle or tendon of the AC/clavicle joint.
Symptoms- Pain in the front of the shoulder
- Point tender to the AC/clavicle joint
- Pain with overhead shoulder movements
- Possible bump on the top of the shoulder
Causes- Fall on the tip of the shoulder
- Fall on an outstretched hand
Treatment- Period of sling use for immobilization
- Stretching and shoulder ROM exercises
- Posture program
- Strengthening shoulder stabilizers
