Definition:
Proliferation of synovial tissue of the hand, composed of synovial villi and fibrous nodules infiltrated by giant cells and macrophages.

Symptoms
  • Swelling in the hand
  • Pain in the hand, especially with movement
  • Sudden onset
  • Loss of ROM in the hand
  • Hand feels warm to touch
Causes
  • Idiopathic
Treatment
  • ROM and stretching
  • Upper extremity strengthening
  • Hand intrinsic muscle strengthening
  • Possible surgical intervention
