Definition:
Proliferation of synovial tissue of the foot and ankle, composed of synovial villi and fibrous nodules infiltrated by giant cells and macrophages.

Symptoms
  • Swelling in the ankle
  • Pain in the ankle, especially with movement
  • Sudden onset
  • Loss of ROM in the ankle
  • Ankle feels warm to touch

  • Idiopathic
Treatment
  • ROM and stretching
  • Lower extremity strengthening
  • Ankle stabilization exercises
  • Possible surgical intervention
