Sprains and Strain of Coracoacromial Ligament

Definition:
An injury to the coracoacromial ligament when the joint is carried through a range of motion greater than normal, but without dislocation or fracture; or an injury resulting from tensile force

Symptoms
  • Swelling in the shoulder
  • Bruising
  • Muscular atrophy from long standing disuse may be present when comparing the injured to the non-injured shoulder.
  • Point tenderness on the coraco humeral ligamant
  • Loss of ROM in the shoulder
  • Looseness of the shoulder

  • Repeated attempts to lift or lower a heavy weight
  • Chronic degeneration
