Quadricep Tendinitis

Definition:
Inflammation of the tendons attached to the quadriceps muscle group.

Symptoms
  • Pain in the knee above the patella
  • Pain at the start of activity and ache after activity or in the evening
  • Stiffness in the knee
  • Point tender at the quadriceps tendon
Causes
  • Repetitive quadriceps activation- running, cutting, kicking
  • Muscle imbalance
  • Structural abnormalities
Treatment
  • Examine your shoes regularly for wear
  • ROM and stretching
  • Knee stabilization exercises
  • Lower extremity strengthening
  • Correct faulty running and/or walking patterns
