Definition:
A break, especially the breaking of a bone or cartilage in the distal end of the ulna.

Symptoms
  • Pain in the wrist
  • Swelling in the wrist
  • Loss of ROM in the wrist
  • Bruising
  • Possible deformity in the wrist

  • Direct blow
  • Fall onto outstretched hand
  • Heavy object falling onto wrist
Treatment
  • Period of immobilization
  • Progress to ROM and stretching exercises
  • Hand intrinsic muscle strengthening
  • Upper extremity strengthening
