S/P Dupuytrens Release

Definition:
Dupuytren's contracture (also known as morbus Dupuytren, Dupuytren's disease or palmar fibromatosis) is a fixed flexion contracture of the hand where the fingers bend towards the palm and cannot be fully extended (straightened). It is an inherited proliferative connective tissue disorder which involves the palmar fascia of the hand. After the incision is made, all diseased cords and fascia are excised. The excision of the cords and fascia has to be very precise to spare the neurovascular bundles. When all the tissue has been removed, the surgeon closes the skin. Stitches are removed 10 days after surgery.
