Talipes Calcaneovalgus

Definition:
Talipes calcaneus and talipes valgus combined; the foot is dorsiflexed, everted, and abducted.

Symptoms
  • Foot deformity characterized with dorsiflexed, everted, and abducted
Causes
  • Congenital
  • Baby's foot has been resting in a turned up position in the womb
  • Muscles on the inside of the leg (which turn the foot in) may be stretched or weak
  • usually a short term condition that corrects itself once the baby has been born
  • and has room to stretch his or her feet
Treatment
  • Splinting
  • Soft tissue massage
  • ROM and stretching
