Definition:
Inflammation of the tendons/bursas near the hip.

Symptoms
  • Pain on the lateral hip
  • Point tender to the lateral hip
  • Pain with walking
  • Pain with laying on affected hip
Causes
  • Repetitive stress- running, stair climbing, bicycling, or standing for long periods of time.
  • Hip injury
  • Spine disease- scoliosis, arthritis of the lumbar spine
  • Leg-length inequality
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Previous surgery
  • Bone spurs or calcium deposits
