Ankylosing Vertebral Hyperostosis

Definition:
'Ankylosing hyperostosis' is a form of dorsopathy. It is a noninflammatory disease, with the principal manifestation being calcification and ossification of spinal ligaments and the regions where tendons and ligaments attach to bone.

Symptoms
  • Thoracic spinal pain
  • Morning stiffness
  • Presence of thick bony bridges between vertebral bodies of the right more common than the left side of thoracic spine
  • Usually middle aged or elderly
