Bartons Fracture

Definition:
Intra-articular fracture of the distal radius with dislocation of the radiocarpal joint.

Symptoms
  • Decreased ROM of the wrist and hand
  • Swelling of the wrist
  • Weakness in the wrist and hand
Causes
  • Fall on an extended and pronated wrist
Treatment
  • Surgical intervention
  • Progress to ROM and stretching
  • Hand intrinsic muscle strengthening
  • Upper extremity strengthening
